How to get cheaper keywords?

Google AdWords is itself the answer for this question, Now that I have already told you how to use the Google Keyword Tool. In this Google Keyword Tool you can search the word which links to your product or the website. Obviously whatever you see in the Google search bar are being paid already.
  • If you have a website and you wanna promote it, go for a word which directs towards your website and is the commonly used word for the search. Come on there are millions of people not everyone will use the same word right. Just make use of this.
  • Try different combinations of keyword instead of single word. For example: health drink, healthdrink, healthdrinks, health drinks, goodhealth drink, good health drink, good health drink, nutrients rich drink… and so on. You will find a phrase or a word which gets sufficient clicks but no advertisers have bid for the keyword. Pick such keyword, give the lowest bid per click and start posting you advertisement.
  • There are some key words like “free, a” are not recognized by the Google search engines, research about such words, which are excluded by the Google Search engines and don’t include in your advertisement.
  • Try some slang which is commonly used by the local people, if you are targeting a particular population, this will be very helpful.
  • You can also try to include some common mistakes while typing, but it’s purely luck!
  • You can choose the option, where you can set your advertisement to be shown only if there is an exact match of the keyword or phrase. I would strongly suggest you to be very specific, do not unnecessarily get clicks.
  • You can try to put a Keyword in their language to get your Advertisement clicked more. For example: For Germany use German. For this you need to learn German, should have a very good German friend.
Do not buy a very costly keyword of a lesser price thinking your ad will come. It will come but its position will be very low.

Google AdWords Mechanics

Now that you are well aware of the terminology, let’s start experimenting. You will understand better, if you follow my instructions.

  • Open this link in a new page: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
  • This link will take you to Google AdWords page. Here you can type any keyword of your choice and fill those characters as shown in the box and click on “Get Keyword Ideas”. There will be a list of many words matching your search, showing Competition, Search volume of the current month, Average search volume… Now you have to click on the Show/Hide column, there select “show estimated Ad Position” and “show Estimated Average Cost Per Click”. When you click the later one there will currency set to your country preferences, if you want you change it or just leave it. I would prefer “US DOLLARS” to change click on the type of currency you want and then click “Recalculate”.
  • Before you go ahead for bidding the keyword, I would suggest you to pick a phrase instead of a keyword, usually not many would have picked the phrase. So, you can place your own bid even $0.1 per click. Now select the keyword to want to bid for and you will be prompted to signup, go ahead sign up and place your ad wherever you want. When you bid for the keyword you can see the position of your ad more the bid better the position.
  • Once done with all these you will get the page where you will have to add heading to your ad and description of your advertisement and destination is the web address where your customer is redirected and the home page that has to be same you cannot redirect the page, According to Google AdWords Policies.

Google AdWords:

Google AdWords is the program from Google where you can advertise your product/website/Scheme. Whatever may be your budget! You can advertise on Google! Advertising on Google is not that cheap, knowing how popular it is! But that is what Google is offering you. This is what Google says but the best part is that, the budget for your advertisement can be fixed by you; Google doesn’t ask you to pay any specified amount. Sometimes you can advertise for almost free, Surprised! Yes it’s true, I will tell you how? but before that you got to understand about Google AdWords completely. Let’s start with an example.

For example: Think you are promoting a health drink, named “Health Dose” now whenever someone types Health drink on Google search bar, there will be lot of sponsored links on the right side of the search list. You would have seen many, if you would have searched something in Google, In case you have not noticed go back and see. Whenever somebody clicks on these Ad’s Google Gets paid.
Now! Hoping that you have seen those links, I will explain the mechanics involved in Google AdWords. The links you see on the right side of the screen, in the search page are sponsored links, are those who pay to Google for being there, in that position. Now to understand, I will introduce you to few terms which are used in Google AdWords

Keyword: Keyword/s is the single word or a phrase which people regularly use to search for the product they want to buy/know about.
For example: Your product is a health drink! Isn’t it. So, when the customer wants to buy a health drink online or wants to know which is better he will type “best health drink”, “good health drink”, “cheapest health drink” and so on… In this example the keyword can be a word like “cheap, good, best...” but this is not specific to your product. The specific one will be “health drink or healthdrink”. Remember keyword can be a phrase also.

Estimated Average Cost Per Click
: This is the amount of money the advertiser pays for the each click on their Ad. This you can see in whatever currency you want, just change the currency and click on “Recalculate”

Approximate Search Volume
: Is the Average number of people who search for this keyword, it’s the total number of people searching for this keyword. Google will show you the number of people last month and you can also see which month there was maximum search. You can also restrict to particular region(s), if you are planning to direct your ad to particular region(s). Here I would like to mention that this is the number of Total people searched for this particular keyword and not everyone will click on your advertisement but more the number, more the clicks you get. It is all left to you! how you planning to advertise.

Estimated Ad Position
: This is the position of ad, in the Google sponsored list for a particular keyword. This depends on how much you are bidding for the keyword and the Quality. Yes, you heard me right! You have to bid for the keyword but I still say that you can advertise for free, in the later sections I will explain how?

How to calculate the earnings?

How to calculate the earnings?
Before I start explaining about the calculation, I would like to introduce you to few terminology involved in Google Ad sense.

Page Impressions:

Page Impressions, in simple words! This is the number of times your page had been viewed by the people. This is the actual meaning! But to tell in terms of Google, This is number of times your webpage’s containing “Google Ad sense code”, has been viewed by the people.
For example: Imagine your website has 70 pages in it, and in each page you have added about 1 Google ad sense code. Now if your website has been viewed by 10 people per day, with average of 10 page views (page views are the number of pages each visitor views among your 70 pages). Then your Total page impressions will be 10x10x1 = 100 per day (as you have one Google Ad sense code per page).
So, every time your page has been visited, your page impressions increase which in turn increases the chance of your page getting clicked. More the clicks, more the revenue.

Once again Page Impressions is the number of times your Google AdSense code has been displayed on your webpage.

Clicks:

Clicks are the number of times your Google ads are being clicked upon. The more clicks you get more the revenue you get out of your website.

CTR: Click Through Rate:

“Click Through Rate” is the ratio between the number of clicks your ads get among the total Page Impressions. This will be your site’s CTR, this expressed in terms of percentage.
In simple words it’s the percentage of clicks your ads will get among the total page views
For example: Your average page view is 100 as per the above example and your clicks, imagining it’s about 10 per day. Your CTR is 10÷100x100 = 10% per day.

Page eCPM:

This is the Terminology to express the effectiveness of your website. In simple words this is the “Cost Per Thousand Impressions” you get from your website.
For example: Imagine if you have more than one website, then it will be easier to compare the revenue like – the money you get from 1st is $100 and the 2nd is $85. So, this is the way of expressing the money earned from thousand impressions on your website that’s all.

Now! Let’s talk business…
Actually Google doesn’t mention any where about the percentage of revenue they are sharing with you, though you can calculate your cost per click of your add
For example: you have earned $5 per day, w.r.t the above example.
The cost per click is “Money earned ÷ Number of clicks” that is $5÷10 = $0.5

All the above terms will be displayed in your Google AdSense account, and the example what I gave is all calculated for per day just multiply it by 30 for conversion to month.
